FAQs

Q? WHAT TO PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRE BOWL, WHEN IT COMES TO THE GAS LINE (MANUAL LIT SYSTEM)?

  1. Make sure you have enough pressure to run the BTU for the burner size you selected. Check with a licensed plumber.
  2. Plan on pouring a concrete pad so that the bowl can be anchored to it. Make it bigger than the base of the bowl and about 4"-5" thick.
  3. Always KNOW where your gas line runs.
  4. Mark down the center of where the bowl will be placed.
  5. In most cases the shut off valve will be located on the side of the bowl, if it is, then have your plumber run the gas line 1"-1.5" off the center point that you marked in step four. In bowl 44" and above you can run it up to 2"-2.5" off the center point.
  6. For a cross fire burner installation it's better to treat the gas line as you would in step five, regardless of the valve placement.
  7. Make sure gas line or LP line is NO MORE THAN 3.5" - 4" above the ground and just have it capped.  The photo below shows how it needs to look when bowl is in place.
  8. Always check local codes.

Q? DOES THE FIRE BOWL ITSELF GET TOO HOT TO TOUCH?

A.
Our fire bowls will not get too hot to touch on the outside while operation
Only the inner lip closest to the fire itself may get too hot to touch, as will the media inside.
Just like a concrete floor on a summer day it will warm in the sun.
As always use common sense and do not touch the media or the lip closest to the fire, and always monitor children when operating.

Q? I HAVE AN AUTOMATIC IGNITION- CAN I LEAVE THE FIRE BOWL UNATTENDED?

A.
NO!
ALWAYS be present when you fire bowl is working, regardless of whether your system is automatically or manually controlled.

Q? WHAT IS YOUR WARRANTY?

A.
Concrete Creations warranties its products, when purchased new, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for one year from the original provable date of purchase. Replacement or repair at the option of Concrete Creations of any defective parts shall be the sole remedy of this warranty.

Q? HOW TO AVOID PROBLEMS DURING AND AFTER INSTALLATION?

A.

Make sure that your walk way and/or gate is wide enough and that the path that will be taken to the placement is paved, if it is not paved, be ready with some plywood.
The easiest way to move the bowl into place is to rent a pallet jack and wheel it into the area next to the gas line, you can always ask the driver to borrow his pallet jack and tip him. We have a video on our Facebook page showing how to place the bowl on the gas line without any real lifting, and minimizing the possibility of damage to the bowl. So make sure to watch it.
Do not strap the bowl or pot, if you need to lift it with a crane of some type, always make sure to strap the crate. Talk to us ahead of time if you plan to crane it into place.
Fire bowls should be installed by a plumber. Support for the burner is available from the burner manufacturer.

Please watch the installation instruction video.
VERY important: DO NOT PLACE THE PAN on the edge or the bowl without something soft in between the burner and the concrete.
Concrete scratches and will chip easily.
For any questions regarding burner installation please call Ray from Warming Trends 877-556-5255
* For a manual system, ignore all the electrical parts of the instruction.

Q? WHAT IS THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS?

A.
In a process similar to ancient clay pottery techniques, our concrete pots and bowls are hand turned on a large wheel while layers of cement are applied onto iron reinforcement. When this process is utilized with cement as well as fibers and other additives, it increases the strength and durability of the pot or bowl tremendously.
All Concrete Creations products are enhanced with either clear interior and exterior sealer protection; for water feature usage as well as for the freeze and thaw process, or with a film forming sealer for stain resistant and easier cleaning.
Our Products are not made by machine, and not poured into molds. The hand made - hand thrown process is unique to our products. The finish and coloring is not always uniform, because it is hand sponged. You can expect slight imperfections in the finish or color. This is normal for our hand made products and enhance the look of each piece.

Q? WHAT TO EXPECT OVER TIME?

A.
Over time the concrete might develop small hair line cracks, or surface cracks and will patina and age. Surface cracks are normal for concrete, and will not break the bowl. We use different additives to reduce cracking and shrinkage, and are constantly working with new materials that are being developed.
Concrete is easily scratched or chipped; if rubbed or hit against metal or other concrete it will damage.
Pots and bowls will need to be sealed every 1-2 years depending on exposure. Sealer is available from Concrete Creations.
Fire bowl should be covered during rain. Water resistant fabric Covers are available from Concrete Creations.
Planters in freeze locals should be allowed to drain, and have dirt in them as far up as possible.

Q? HOW TO AVOID PROBLEMS DURING SHIPPING?

A.

How to avoid problems during shipping?

Concrete Creations makes every effort to pack and protect all shipped products, including the purchase of shipping insurance. Nonetheless, damages do rarely occur during shipment. Our products are packed and crated in a specially built wooden crate. In the effort to avoid unnecessary problems please adhere to the following simple guidelines:
  • A designated person should always be present at the project to receive the pots, even if the shipping company suggests that it is not necessary.
  • The shipment should always be inspected carefully for exterior damage to the box. Please Call Concrete Creations if there is any damage. Then please write the damages onto the bill of landing and have the driver sign the bill; take photographs. Whether there is damage to the exterior box or not, please open the boxes carefully while the driver is still present. The walls of the crate are nailed together and the top screwed down onto the walls.
  • Make sure to  have some power tools to unscrew the top and remove the walls.
  • VERY IMPORTANT if the crate arrives and it does not look like the crates in these photos, then call us immediately.  The crate is built to fit the bowl / pot and does not have any parts sticking out of it.

Crate looks like a complete wooden box, no matter how large the bowl is.
